St Abb's Wool Festival
The publicity material for St. Abb's Wool Festival has arrived. This will be Lifelong Yarn's first festival as a vendor - a dream come true. Then reality kicks in as the amount of preparation becomes clear. First the application to become a vendor - and the acquisition of public liability insurance. We used the broker The Insurance Octopus and have been very impressed with their service. I'm sure we might have got a cheaper premium, but shopping around will be next year's task. Then come the risk assessment forms...And stock - or the lack of it. There is no point going to a festival without a decent amount of stock - representative of your range - for visitors to buy. Luckily The Border Mill had reserved me a slot at the beginning of October. So our second batch of yarns will be spun for St. Abb's. And our new 4-ply yarns will be launched there ! Our lovely Yarrow (50/50 Blackface/BFL) will be the blend chosen for the 4ply and along with the existing natural outmeal, a new colourway will be added - very evocative of Autumn in the Borders. Can't wait to see it ! Then thoughts turn to the stand itself. Should it be clean and sharp, in keeping with our brand, or more rustic? Well, to find out what we have chosen, come along to the show - 4th November, The Community Centre, Eyemouth. Do come and say hello to us !
